David was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He played 425 games in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals, the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks, before finishing his hockey career with the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). During his NHL tenure he scored 33 goals with 46 assists. He was known for his penalty killing and faceoff proficiency during his career. David coached the 2014 Battery Elite while also doing camps and clinics
